Success and Rise & Fall

Success and Rise & Fall in This World and the Hereafter Depend on the Qur’an
Throughout history, the rise and fall of nations, the success and failure of civilizations, and the prosperity or destruction of individuals have all been linked to one essential source of guidance: the Glorious Qur’an. It is not merely a holy book recited for blessings but a comprehensive manual for life — a divine constitution revealed by the Creator of the heavens and the earth. The Qur’an offers the keys to success in this world and eternal salvation in the Hereafter. When individuals and societies adhere to its teachings, they flourish; when they neglect or abandon it, they decline.
The Qur’an: A Timeless Source of Guidance
The Qur’an is not bound by time or place. Its guidance is universal and eternal. It addresses the human soul, intellect, society, economy, law, governance, and all aspects of life. It elevates those who live by it and humiliates those who turn away from it.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allah raises some people by this Book and lowers others by it.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This Hadith clearly illustrates that honor, dignity, and leadership come through the Qur’an — and so does downfall when it is abandoned or misused.
Success in This World through the Qur’an
History bears witness that when the early Muslims held tightly to the Qur’an, they were at the peak of civilization. They led the world in knowledge, ethics, justice, and governance. The Qur’an instilled in them a sense of purpose, discipline, unity, and fear of accountability.
The Qur’an encourages hard work, sincerity, justice, and compassion — the very ingredients of worldly success. It guides us on how to manage wealth, raise families, solve conflicts, deal with adversaries, and live productive lives.
When these teachings were implemented, Muslim societies became beacons of knowledge, art, science, and justice. Cities like Baghdad, Cordoba, and Cairo were centers of learning and civilization — all due to the Qur’an’s influence.
Failure and Decline due to Abandoning the Qur’an
Conversely, the decline of the Muslim Ummah began when it drifted away from the Qur’an. Formal recitation without understanding or practice replaced sincere implementation. Corruption, division, injustice, and backwardness crept in. The spiritual and intellectual detachment from the Qur’an caused moral decay and loss of divine blessings.
Allah warns in the Qur’an:
“And whoever turns away from My remembrance — indeed, he will have a miserable life.”
(Surah Taha 20:124)
A nation that abandons divine guidance is destined to face confusion, humiliation, and instability.
The Qur’an as the Path to Eternal Success
While the Qur’an offers principles for success in this world, its primary focus is on the Hereafter — the ultimate destination. It reminds us that this life is a test and the real victory lies in earning Allah’s pleasure.
“Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great success.”
(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:71)
Through the Qur’an, we learn how to purify our hearts, correct our intentions, and perform deeds that will lead us to Paradise. It is a light in the darkness, a cure for spiritual ailments, and a map to eternal bliss.
Conclusion: Our Fate Lies in Our Relationship with the Qur’an
Today, the Muslim world stands at a crossroads. Our revival — politically, socially, and spiritually — depends on returning to the Qur’an, not just in words, but in action. This Divine Book has transformed the weakest into leaders and can do so again. It is not us who will uplift the Qur’an — rather, it is the Qur’an that will uplift us, if we honor and follow it.
Let every individual, family, and nation ask:
Is the Qur’an guiding our lives, or has it become a forgotten ornament on our shelves?
The path to lasting honor, peace, and success — in both worlds — lies in reconnecting with the Qur’an.
For those who follow it sincerely, Allah promises:
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright and gives good news to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.”
(Surah Al-Isra 17:9)
